Inner Work

The Coach’s Inner Work
Coaches are not supposed to be counselors, but this work for me can cross into that area and in most instances that is fine. * I believe the best coach is one who has done their own inner work and that is something I have done. Those who may be lacking in this area have been known to stifle the emotional discharge of others which can be vital for the inner work of healing. That kind of reaction is often experienced as rejection, and is likely to feel hurtful to one who is genuine and honest in seeking help, understanding and true compassion.
Sharing Experience
Clients are often inspired by a personal sharing of experience more than anything else. The genuine knowledge of the heart is vital in addition to that which comes from the intellect or other sources, and the power of peer support is palpable. As I clear my own personal blocks and issues of my own ongoing work, I find deeper compassion, a lighter heart, and greater inclination to self- kindness and peace, even amid the thorny pathways. These I share with clients so that they can also experience a hope that is genuine through the eyes of one who has walked a similar road.
