Truthful Heart-- for Happiness & Self- Kindness

     I use these Steps in coaching for those who wish to use them. They are a simple version of the 12 steps as used to heal addiction. They are a path to a truthful way of life as well as a link to a grassroots program run by and for those in need of spiritual help through pathways that are both wide and kind. I have used them much in my own life as well as in helping others, and have found much of freedom through them.
              Whatever brings us to truth is a kindly way is good,
                        for the heart craves truth and does not rest until it finds it...


                 To live in keeping with the truth is the greatest Kindness.

9 Steps to Growth


1. We admit that some of our challenges are bigger than we are, that we urgently need help.

2. We accept help, seeking a higher view of life or "something greater"* than ourselves. 

3. We work to develop a stronger connection to honesty, unselfishness, purity and love as the primary basis of our lives.

4
. We come to believe that a new way if living can free us from addiction and problematic issues.

5. We take a full personal inventory of our true nature; our gifts, graces, and "baggage" in life.


6. We share our personal inventory with someone we trust, opening to feedback, self- acceptance, forgiveness, and correction.

7. We let go of our defects and the past, asking for help to move on and live a better way.

8. We make amends to those we may have harmed including ourselves as appropriate.

9. We plan and develop a better way of life, embracing love, unselfishness, 
honesty, purity of motive and striving.

10. We continue placing daily attention to practicing and progressing in our principles, taking daily inventory, amending issues promptly as they arise, asking for help as needed and extending it to others seeking such a path.

     We do not do these steps alone-- we ask for, and receive the help we need from others and from 
our own understanding of "something greater" than ourselves as we re-form the Foundation of our lives on a firmer grounding.

       The key to self-mastery is "self- forgetting" in service to humanity, but we must first "remember" the truth of who we are.  For that reason we take a "personal inventory" -- we then have a list of what we need to work on.
     Sharing the steps with others is vital in learning, growing, and staying active in
         self- growth and this truthful path,. Our inner explorations are never fully done.
           There is always room for growth, and in this our hearts are truly filled.  


                                    "Progress, not Perfection" is our goal.

           The Steps as listed here are partially derived from what is known as the "Twelve Steps" in 
          "Anonymous Programs" and the Oxford Movement as used all over the world. 
             Their support groups meet in person, by phone or on the internet, and are offered on a donation basis.

  Notes*  "Something greater"* than ourselves can refer to any help we seek. It may also refer to God,"Spirit" or the Heartmind (in Buddhist terminology), an unseen part of us.   It can begin with whatever, to us, might represent the Universal Stream of Life, 
whether we call this God  (G.O.D.-- ie., Good Orderly Direction) or experience it as our own best interest or Higher self, etc. What we call is or whether we experience it from within or from without is not as important as that we apply our intelligence and inner Wisdom/ Higher Self to the step work we do.
     Here we call for a broad understanding of “Spirit”-- for example, anything healthy that is done to relax, maintain and heal mind or body can be a help to Spirit, and may be a vital part of one's own spiritual path.
